About our Class Instagram...

I know that many of you use Instagram for social media and personal reasons and if you were being completely honest, probably don't want your professors "following you" on social media.  Let me be clear:  Faculty should not - and in many cases are prohibited from - doing just that.  I will not follow any current student on social media and you should feel 100% secure in that your personal life on social media will stay personal when it comes to this class.

The instagram account for "drmilleratsfa" is just temporary.  I hope you will follow it.  There will be short video hints, reminders, and just generally photos and videos that serve as supplemental comments and even encouragement.

I do not maintain a personal instagram account although I am personally active on just about every other form of social media.  I work with social media a lot when it comes to SFA Athletics.  So, I am familiar with how college students use Instagram.  In fact, the very idea to have a temporary account was the idea of my 21-year old college son who is a student at ACU and is currently doing the same thing that you are doing:  having his courses shifted to remote learning.

Your privacy is of value and I will not be searching your profiles or "stalking" as it is sometimes called on Instagram or Facebook or whatever....

I am just trying to communicate with you in as many formats as possible and meeting you "where you are" - trying to make it easy for you to keep up with what is going on in the class.

If you have ANY concerns at all about our communication tools, please shoot me an email.  Thanks for all your hard work!

Welcome to Our MTH 220 Blog... A Supplemental Tool

Hi MTH 220 Crew,

I created this blog to be a supplemental tool for our MTH 220 classes that were meeting on TR 12:30 and 2:00.  This blog will have a post that will contain a running calendar to help you stay organized as well as other posts that serve as reminders about assignments.

I will also make blog entries in response to email questions that I receive and also just address small issues, hints and helpful comments for you as we progress through this COVID-19 online learning period at SFA.

In addition, the blog will be a host for our "chat office hours".  I have previously worked with a piece of software called "JotCast" on the athletic side of the university and they have graciously agreed to host all of our chat rooms for free.  If you have participated in a question and answer chat online at another website, there is a good chance it was thru JotCast and you didn't know it.  So, thanks to them for stepping up and reconnecting with me on the academic side.

Keep working hard!  Stay really organized in all of your classes and we'll all do our best to finish up the semester strong.
